ProTernative™ Stress Formula (Saccharomyces cerevisiea boulardi 1079)
ProTernative SF is a GI tract-specific, live yeast product that maintains the health of the lower GI tract during times of stress, such as shipping, receiving, processing or during extreme weather conditions. A healthy lower gut means improved feed consumption and better animal health.
Stress has a negative impact on cattle in a number of ways including
- Reduced feed intake
- Reduced response to vaccinations
- Increased incidence of Bovine Respiratory Disease(BRD) and other diseases
- Increased death loss
- Reduced weight gain
- Poorer feed conversion
- Reduced carcass quality
Research data show that when cattle eat less than 1.6% of their body weight during the first seven days they are on feed, they are more likely to get sick and die than the cattle that eat more than 1.6% of their body weight.
Texas Tech University studies demonstrated the effectiveness of ProTernative Stress Formula in improving feed intake and reducing the number of animals that had to be treated for BRD.
ProTernative Stress Formula is available in two convenient sizes: 5 Kg (10,000 head days) and 20 Kg (40,000 head days). It is also available as a beef premix in 50 lb bags and in micro-encapsulated form for pelleted feeds.
